Mortal Meteor

Swift as wind I pass,
through this earth's floating mass,
knowing well its length and width.
men's treachery and intelligence amidst.

Though I pass just once,
its pertinent I bequeath all,
a loved one, a legacy
a psalm unsung,
written in obeisance
to an immortal Lord.

Though we faced bloody wars,
in attempt to do His word,
yet faces smile as we glanced,
at the helpless heaps of bodies
we left behind.

Then would I join my fathers,
with my earth-suit facing the sky
in a wooden box,
empty of all.
