Ujamaa Christian Poetry
Desolate City
People all around…
Not listening
To Your call
As You screamed wisdom's words in the street,
They turned away
Like plants withering
Trampled on…they fall
Bowing to false gods…
The money or man that makes it
Why? He ain't telling how to get it.
Let everything that have breath,
Praise the Lord.
Now, I say to the desolate city,
You are being summoned
Rise up, take heed
You are destroying…
Yourselves, your self-respect, and dignity.
You used to be strong
Standing now weakened by the western wave.
Tornadoes formed to suction
Whatever remains
