VICTORY SONG
I was up on Christ
and up on life
and many other things
that holy living brings
'til for a small moment
under the guise of another mind
I was given to appetites of a different kind;
Like an innocent babe
nestled in my bed-a-bye
I was drinking bottled milk
that was laced with lies
open to whatever the wind blew in
acquainting myself with the wages of sin;
I soared high for a while
like an undsisciplined child
'til I found myself lying in a wilderness place
where I had fallen flat on my face;
Thinking that all was lost
my heart began to count the cost
of the precious blood of Christ
that saved my wretched life;
Chosen, sealed and set apart
and kept by the grace of God
ever in my weakest hour
to triumph in His awesome power;
Though I stumble along the way
the Lord remains faithful to the price He paid
covering me when I oppose myself
restoring and blessing like nobody else
that forever in my heart rings a victory song
for the joy of all that He has done.
